Universal Hockey Welcomes Adam Mascherin as Spring Hockey Director and Development Coach

Toronto, ON – Universal Hockey is pleased to announce the addition of Adam Mascherin to its leadership team as the new Spring Hockey Director and Development Coach. A former professional player with an accomplished career in the Ontario Hockey League (OHL), American Hockey League (AHL), and European pro leagues, Mascherin brings a wealth of experience and a proven track record.

A native of Maple, Ontario, Mascherin was selected 38th overall by the Florida Panthers in the 2016 NHL Entry Draft and later 100th overall by the Dallas Stars in 2018. He went on to play for the Texas Stars in the AHL, recording 89 points in 142 games, and earning recognition as an AHL Central Division All-Star in the 2020–21 season. He later competed in the Swedish Hockey League (SHL) with Skellefteå AIK.

Mascherin’s junior career with the Kitchener Rangers was equally impressive, where he tallied 296 points in 259 regular-season games. He was named to the OHL Second All-Rookie Team in 2014–15, the First All-Star Team in 2016–17, and the Third All-Star Team in 2017–18.

In his new role with Universal Hockey, Mascherin will lead the development of what is positioned to become North America’s premier spring hockey program. His responsibilities will include building highly competitive teams, delivering elite-level skills training, and enhancing the overall player and family experience. He will also oversee daily operations, mentor athletes, and work closely with staff to create a high-performance, development-first environment.

“I’m incredibly excited and motivated to begin working with Universal Hockey,” said Mascherin. “This is a great opportunity to help shape the next generation of players by sharing what I’ve learned throughout my career. My goal is to build a program that not only competes at the highest level but also provides a professional, challenging, and fun experience for every player involved.”

Mascherin’s deep knowledge of the game, combined with his firsthand experience and passion for player development, makes him an invaluable addition to Universal Hockey. His appointment marks a major step forward in the organization’s mission to set a new standard in spring hockey.
